Winner, Best Documentary Short Seattle Film Festival

As the largest film festival in the United States, Seattle International Film Festival shows over 400 films during the course of 25 days to an audience of roughly 150,000 people.

This past weekend, "Refugee" had the honor of receiving the festival's 2017 Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Short Film. The film screened on Saturday May 20th and Sunday May 21st along with feature film "8 Borders 8 Days" directed by Amanda Bailly.

SIFF Jury statement about the film: "For many refugees, getting to the United States is only the first step of a decades-long journey. REFUGEE is the moving and powerful story of a mother of five, Aicha Diop, whose journey to obtain asylum encapsulates the hope of life in America, as well as its harsh political realities."
